One more day! To make sure you are well prepared going into the new month, I have added one more step that will help you get excited about achieving your monthly goals!
Step 3
Make a picture board to keep you motivated.
I find that it's important to keep your goals in sight at all times. That's why I've decided to make an inspirational picture board on Pinterest for myself. (You can find my board here)
If you don't have a Pinterest account, get out your scissors and glue! Find a poster board or cork board (even a wall in your room will do) and cut out anything that inspires you. Call your board "My Inspiration".
Here are some ideas for your picture board:
- The yoga move you've always wanted to master
- You're family cheering you on
- The number of pounds you want to lose for the month (don't go too crazy)
- The new recipes you want to try
- Motivational quotes
- If you're cutting out pictures look through magazines and cut out anything that makes you happy or inspired
- Places you want to go
Lastly, make sure your picture board is in a location in your home (or office) where you are going to see it everyday such as your bedroom or kitchen if you plan on building your own by hand. I suggest you build your own if you do not go on your Pinterest account everyday. OR make one picture board on Pinterest for when you are at work and one by hand for at home!
Good luck and have fun with it :)

It's Time for the Next Step!
It's almost September so let's get serious!
Step 2
Find a calendar.
If you are anything like me, you will want to organize your goals for the month. I have decided not to waste any of my days sitting around feeling sorry for myself. To make sure this plan gets put into action, I am going to write something on each date (such as an inspirational quote or a small to do list).
Try not to make your to do list too complicated if you're a busy person. Life will almost always try to get in the way of your goals and try to throw you off track. If you keep your goals simple (such as "get active for 20 minutes today" as apposed to "go for a 20 minute run") an unexpected meeting or family get together will not abolish your daily goal, it will simply challenge your creativity. For example, walk to your meeting or if that's not an option, park as far as possible from the building and walk from there. Take the stairs. As for your family get together, suggest a walk after dinner.
If you're not a very busy person and need more direction in your life (like me), you can put more specific goals or activities on your calendar for each day.
Here is my calendar for the month of September:
I am by no means an artist but I have taken the time to try and make my calendar as attractive as possible so I am more likely to get excited about the day. I put my overall monthly goals that I want to achieve at the top. That way they are always in view and I won't go off track. Each day has an activity to do that will contribute to achieving my goals. I also added a bit of motivation at the bottom to remind me to get up and do something!
Go ahead and try it yourself:)

The First Day of the Rest of Your Life!
My name is Jill and I turned 21 this month. I had a difficult year with zero motivation and lack of inspiration. I have been waiting for something great to happen to me all year but unfortunately I learnt the hard way that great opportunity and happiness does not always come to you, you have to look within and find it yourself. Finally, I've decided to take matters into my own hands and learn to inspire myself while hopefully inspiring others at the same time.
Step 1
It's time to make a list of your short-term goals. Long-term goals are more likely to be put on the back burner for many months or even years. In order to make progress, you have to set small achievable goals in a shorter amount of time.
Here are some of my goals for September (you can steal them if you like):
- Find out who is hiring in my area and update my resume
- Get active everyday (walk, run, yoga)
- Dance my heart out to my favourite songs every morning
- Start waking up earlier (waking up at noon everyday tends to spoil your whole day)
- Go on a photography adventure
- MOST IMPORTANTLY: stop saying no and start saying yes!
Positivity will change your life. Negativity will destroy it.

A New Beginning
It starts today! Life is what you make it and I'm going to show you how to do just that. Step by step we can achieve anything. If I can do it, you can too. Today is the beginning of a new positive outlook on life. Let's do it!
